Urban Walks
Walking routes accessible by public transport in NZ's main cities — waterfront paths, urban forest trails, and green belt walks that don't need a car. Genuine nature within the urban edge.
Oriental Bay to Island Bay. Reachable by bus at either end. A proper urban-to-coastal traverse passing through the Town Belt reserve with harbour and Cook Strait views the whole way.
Wellington south coast, from Owhiro Bay. Flat and easy to the red rocks (40 min one-way) or extend to Sinclair Head (2–3 hrs return) for the fur seal colony, present roughly May–October.
Auckland. Short walk up one of the city's most accessible volcanic cones. 360-degree views of the city and harbour from the top. Bus from the CBD drops you at the base.
Port Hills, Christchurch. The eastern end toward Godley Head is genuinely coastal with harbour and open-ocean views. Reachable by bus from the CBD to the base of the Bridle Path.
